How to feed a patient – the right way!

Correct Positions

    1. Position resident with head in the midline, plus head and neck flexed forward.

    2. Support the resident in upright midline position with pillows at head, back and under a weak arm if necessary. Encourage weight to be taken through weak arm.

    3. When assisting to feed, sit directly in front of the resident or well within resident's view. Support head at the side if necessary.
